BIMvoice
Welcome to BIMvoice, the podcast that provides a platform for Building Information Modeling (BIM) professionals to share their perspectives and insights on the industry. In this podcast, we cover a wide range of topics related to BIM, including its applications in architecture, engineering, and construction, as well as the latest trends and challenges facing the industry. One of the key topics we focus on is OpenBIM, a platform-independent approach to BIM that enables seamless collaboration and data exchange among different stakeholders. We believe that OpenBIM is revolutionizing the AEC industry and has the potential to transform the way we design, construct, and operate buildings. Through our conversations with experts in the field, including architects, engineers, and software developers, we explore the benefits of using OpenBIM, including interoperability, flexibility, and data exchange. We also discuss the challenges of implementing OpenBIM and how organizations can overcome them. Our guests share their personal experiences with OpenBIM tools like IFC, BCF, IDS, and provide insights on how OpenBIM is improving collaboration among different disciplines, increasing efficiency, and reducing errors and rework. We also discuss the latest developments in OpenBIM technology and how it is being used in real-world projects. Whether you’re an architect, engineer, contractor, or software developer, BIMvoice provides you with valuable insights and practical tips to help you get the most out of BIM and OpenBIM. So, join us for our next episode and let’s explore the exciting world of BIM together!

The “markdown” of BIM is here
Dotbim (.bim - as an extension) is an open-source, accessible, simple, minimalistic file format for BIM, that will allow you to store geometry and data with it. Dotbim (.bim) was built with an idea of having whole documentation of it on 1 page only. It was made on purpose to make it as minimalistic and as simple, and it possibly can be. Yet still it allows transferring geometries and data attached. Such approach can make a huge difference for the developers of different software. You’d spent much less time on building parsers, importers, exporter, and other tools around it. Think of it as the “markdown” of BIM – the bare minimum, but just enough structure for your content.

We're centered around the wrong information standard
▶️Håkon is convinced that instead of wasting our time, energy and resources on an old and limited information standard, we should dare for newer and better approaches that have the potential to disrupt our industry instead of just improving it a little.
Håkon is an entrepreneur who started up more innovative companies within AEC with the goal to make better buildings. Before this, he worked as a Project Manager.

Since the last mammoth release, we've pivoted from developing many new features towards stablising the necessary workflows for native authoring.
Between the last release and now, two presentations were delivered to two international events: BILT 2021 and CAAD Futures 2021. Creating presentations takes time, and a good week was spent to craft an action-packed, information-loaded one hour introduction video presentation to Native IFC. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it, and share it for those who know BIM, but not OpenBIM, or those who know IFC, but not Native IFC.
